The SIMPLON Rapcon tested by ENDURO Mountainbike Magazine

The SIMPLON Rapcon kicks off the new year as the best enduro bike for 2022. It bagged the coveted title in a comparative test of ENDURO Mountainbike Magazine. With good reason: The Rapcon combines smoothness and agility unlike any other bike. The testers were also impressed by the following features:

  • well-thought-out frame with a clean look
  • traction-strong suspension setup
  • low seat tube for plenty of freedom of movement

Another big plus from the testers' point of view: In the configurator, the bike can be optimally adapted to personal wishes thanks to numerous different options and features.

A full-suspension mountain bike with excellent handling characteristics

Playful and, at the same time, smooth-running with even-tempered handling and a sensitive suspension setup – that's how the Rapcon behaves on the trails. The full-suspension MTB is always ready for extreme trails and enduro riding. It masters jumps, drops and even challenging, stony or rooty terrain with ease – a true enduro bike! Although the Rapcon impressed the testers in all riding conditions, they were particularly enthusiastic about its performance in steep terrain. No matter how steep it gets, the bike offers lots of freedom of movement and a safe riding experience.

Details

The Rapcon can be configured to suit the rider’s personal preferences and riding style. The winning MTB used in the test was equipped with the following features:

  • suspension fork: FOX 38 Factory GRIP2 170 mm
  • shocks: FOX FLOAT X2 Factory 165 mm
  • seatpost: Kind Shock LEV INTEGRA 200 mm
  • brakes: SRAM CODE RSC 220/200 mm
  • shifting system: Shimano XT 1x12
  • stem: SIMPLON Zero II 35 mm
  • handlebar: SIMPLON Carbon Riser 800 mm
  • wheels: DT Swiss EX 1700 29
  • tyres: Schwalbe Magic Mary / Big Betty 2.4/2.4

The Rapcon also left a lasting impression on the testers with its storage options. The storage compartment in the down tube comes as a standard feature, and a tool mount can be optionally installed on the top tube of the carbon frame. The test of a total of eleven enduro bikes showed that it doesn’t get any better than this.

SIMPLON Rapcon: an insider tip for action-packed trails

Discreet branding, a simple frame and internal cable routing make for a clean, unagitated look. All the more exciting is the seatpost with 200 millimetres of travel, which can be completely retracted into the frame.

Another unique feature are the bike’s wheels: 2.4-inch tyres by Schwalbe combined with the robust DT Swiss EX1700 aluminium wheelset. The ultra-soft rubber compound on the front wheel provides additional grip. And to ensure the bike stays clean for a long time even on muddy trails, the fender on the chainstay protects the main bearing from dirt.

Verdict

"The SIMPLON Rapcon perfectly combines the two opposites of smoothness and agility and has earned the title as an awesome all-rounder – as the best enduro bike for 2022." – We’ve got nothing more to add to this verdict of the testers at ENDURO Mountainbike Magazine.
